A Note from Dr. Kimberly Hendershot, Alabama Chapter President
Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had time over the holidays to spend some time with family, friends, and loved ones. I wanted to update our membership on some important items for the ACS Alabama chapter.
Make sure to save the date for our annual AL-MS ACS chapter meeting—July 30-Aug 1, 2026, in Gulf Shores. It is sure to be a fantastic meeting with great clinical updates and wonderful networking opportunities. Learn more about the annual meeting.
This past year, we developed and enacted the AL ACS bylaws. Feel free to check them out here.
This year, we have set up an AL ACS chapter initiative fund. This is a unique opportunity for our AL chapter to take advantage of member donations to the national ACS Foundation that funnels the money back into our local chapter. This money can be used for various chapter initiatives, such as awards for our general surgery resident paper competition, scholarships for residents attending the ACS Leadership and Advocacy Summit, and grants for special AL projects that advance the mission of the ACS. For more information or to donate, see this link.
Please feel free to reach out to me personally or to our AL ACS chapter management team for any current events, new ideas, special recognitions or other news.
Kim Hendershot, MD, FACS
AL ACS Chapter President 2025-26
